Revised Competition Rules
The object of the Chairman’s Challenge is to encourage as many club members as possible to ‘have a go’ at producing a nominated turned piece on a monthly basis, to be judged by club members. The winners of the two separate ability groups will be the members with the highest aggregate points for the year in, their respective group. Following a discussion as to how to take the Monthly Challenge forward it has been proposed that,
1. We will revert to two competition groups with members voting for the pieces in each group. Group One --- Basic Level and Group Two --- Premier Group.
2. A challenge item will be selected from one of the items made by our visiting demonstrator, these will be displayed and judged at the next meeting, usually a ‘Hands On’ meeting.
3. Challenge items for the meeting following the ‘Hands On’ meeting will be selected in advance and announced In the Newsletter.
4. There will be a further Annual Competition to be judged at the Christmas meeting – details will be announced at a later date.
5. In order to be eligible for the advanced group competition, members must have won the basic competition in previous years or be invited to join the group by the Chairman.
6. Members forming the initial Premier Group are:- T. Davies, M. Thorpe, G. Miller, D. Lawrence, P. Stevenson, D. Nash, C. Lane.
Basic Group :- This is open to all members other than those who fall into the above category.
