Chairman’s Comments

“Will you be the next winner?!”

I am sure by now we have all received our recent copies of Revolutions together with our AWGB Member’s Handbook, I would recommend that you read the AGM report and in particular the Training & Development element which the AWGB provide. Your Member’s Handbook outlines in detail the training initiatives available to members and clubs; these are for all our benefit. If any member feels we could be a Hosting Club for any Topic or Technique let us know and we could invite AWGB to Water Orton to give us a session on a subject where we feel there is a need. Give it some thought and let us know by speaking to a member of your committee.

Our next two meetings are Demonstrations by Professional Turners please try and be there, a lot of effort goes into arranging these events and your support is vital to making them a success. You need to be there to see the next Chairman's Challenge project!

For those members who were unable to attend our May ‘Hands On’ Day, you missed a very successful day.  I believe the success was due to a number of factors, the extended day (10 am---4 pm.) is certainly a big improvement, allowing a lot more time to get involved and see different demo's. A wider variety of interest and for that I say a big thank you to all contributors; the many complimentary remarks are just reward for your much appreciated contributions. Last and by no means least was the standard of the entries in the Chairman's Challenge, the most difficult yet to select the placings in my opinion, congratulations to all entrants, 13 in all! There is still room for a few more!

Where are those missing members? Let’s see a few old faces, you know you miss coming!!

That's it for now, see you all next time.

Regards,

Brian.
