It was good to be able to attend our first ‘Hands On’ Day of 2010, and my first meeting of the year, it has seemed like an age! I must say that there feels a renewed energy within the club, due in no small part to the new members on the Committee. There was lots of activity going on which raised the debate as to how long our ‘Hands On’ Days should be. There are many things we could be doing which are just not possible in the time available in our present sessions. There is a debating opportunity on the Forum linked to the Web site where you can propose a time you would consider more appropriate, please contribute to the discussion if you can. Another opportunity to test your preferences could be a poll at our next meeting when we have Paul Coker demonstrating to us. In the meantime we discussed the matter at our last committee meeting and propose to have our longer ‘Hands On’ Day in April  from 10am--4pm. Please have your say and hopefully we can find a time to suit the majority. See you all at the Paul Coker Demonstration .

Daventry & District Spring Woodworking Show

April 17th.— 18th. 2010

In an effort to try to encourage more people to enter the Chairman’s Challenge, the rules have been revised as follows :-

There are now two categories—

The Basic Category for mere mortals —the criteria for this category is that the entry shall be as near as possible to the Challenge item.

The Open Category for those more able and accomplished to produce a piece with an enhancement of the design by way of embellishment , texture or colour .

Only one category may be entered  for each Challenge.

Members will vote on each category, points will be accumulated in each category.

“We will only achieve by trying!”

Chairman’s Challenge — Revised Rules

The setting up of the stall will take place on Friday afternoon 16th. April. If anyone is able to help with this please contact Tim Davies.

Items for the display table and sales table should be brought to the meeting on April 11th.
