Chairman’s Comments

I must give a hearty thanks and congratulations to everybody involved in making the Open Day such a very enjoyable occasion. Without the enthusiasm of the club members who turn up with their lathes and tools these events couldn't succeed, thanks to each and everyone of you and indeed to everyone who contributed to the Day. Our Display Stand of members’ work was a good variety of turned pieces showing a wide range of items .

We have had apologies from Neil & Mick who couldn't make it for the Sharpening Clinic and assurances that they will be available for a session at a future meeting. We can always do with more visitors, but those who attended and I managed to speak to, appeared to be enthusiastic about our set up and hopefully we should see some again. Can I remind everyone that we can always do with new members and visitors are always welcome.

We have another opportunity to promote ourselves,  at Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens, on the occasion of the 25th. Anniversary of the garden’s restoration, 11am.--4pm.on Sat. 18th. Sept. We have been invited along to give a Woodturning  Demonstration and a team is organised for the day. It is a lovely venue and well worth a visit .-----maybe we’ll see some of you there!

Don't forget your Chairman's Challenge pieces for the 26th. Sept.

See you All there,

Brian .

Keith Lanchester, our demonstrator booked for 26th. Sept. has been given a date for essential surgery for that time and has had to cancel his demo. I can't think why!! I am sure we all wish him well.

I am pleased and thankful we have found an able replacement in Terry Coombes, founder member of North Warwicks and ex- chairman, member of Coombe Abbey and also Derwent Valley. As you can see he is a very keen and enthusiastic woodturner who I am sure will do us proud . Those of you who have seen demo's at Axminster, Nuneaton, may have seen Terry giving a demo. there.
