West Midlands Woodturners have won the best display table at Daventry Wood Show for the third year running. Thanks to all those who contributed pieces, practised the layout and set everything up on the day.
Missing from the display above are Malcolm Thorpe’s basket weave platter, Kris Cietak’s involuted candlestick and Darren Smith’s pierced bowl were put forward for the best piece in show competition. The show will be judged overnight and the result announced tomorrow.
We are also awaiting the result of today’s timing turning competition which was a darning mushroom. The competitors had between noon and 1pm to turn the mushroom. Our entry was turned by Malcolm Thorpe. All the entries for the competition can be seen below.
Also turned today was the first of a pair of candlesticks, turned by club chairman Keith Lanchester. The second of the pair will be turned by Joe Rollings tomorrow.
